The biggest day of the year for the cannabis industry is just around the corner and we felt it was a good time to give a little insight into what 420 deals we have at The Pass Berkshires. What is 420?
While we have mentioned its origins before, let’s have a quick refresher on the beginning of 4/20. The etymology of 420 dates all the way back to the 70s with a group of high school students known as “the Waldos.” This group of students used 420 as a code, referencing the time they would meet to search for an abandoned cannabis crop. Somewhere along the way, the Waldos got involved with the Grateful Dead, spreading their shorthand term for sparking up with the band and those around them. The simple code of 420 began to spread across Northern California, and as The Grateful Dead’s influence grew, so did the term 420.
Is 420 Important to Dispensaries?
420 represents more than just an innocuous code for smoking reefer in legalized states. It represents a celebration of the legalization and progress of the cannabis industry in these states, including Massachusetts. Honestly, we’re just excited that we’re allowed to do what we do, so this day allows us to share that excitement with our customers.
